Issue #8 of Style Sample out July 6th!

The new issue of Style Sample magazine comes out on July 6th! Expect to see even more of your favorite bloggers, the best shopping, fashion photography and illustration, and great advice about making your blog even better.

Here’s a sneak peek at the cover:

We’re also trying something a little different: in addition to the regularly scheduled content in each issue (which will always be a part of the free online magazine), there will be additional premium content in the print edition. The premium content delves deeper into one particular area of style, focusing on careers in the fashion industry and delivering useful, actionable advice from professionals about how to get your foot in the door.

Ever thought about becoming a personal stylist?

The premium content in the upcoming issue focuses on personal styling, and we’ve been hard at work conducting research and interviewing professional personal stylists in different cities around the world, from LA to New York to London to Paris.

Everyone we talked to was surprisingly candid, and dished about everything from how they got started (there’s nothing wrong with starting with your sister’s hairdresser’s cousin!) to how they set up their business. If you’re interested in styling, you don’t want to miss this feature!

We can’t wait to share this issue with you, so be sure to follow us so you’re the first to know when it’s ready!

Issue #4 Coming Soon!

It’s almost the end of the month, and Style Sample Magazine editors and contributors have been hard at work on Issue #4, out on October 6th! You can look forward to your favorite returning features like Blogs to Watch, Emerging Designer, and Day in the Life, as well as some exciting new ones.

Here’s the deal: We get so many submissions from great bloggers with great blogs, but haven’t really been able to fit them into the regular features currently in the magazine. So…we came up with some new ones! The upcoming issue will include three new features:

Point of View, where bloggers from different cities talk about style in their city, from their point of view–the best boutiques, local designers, places to be seen, and other unique aspects of their area.

Fashion is Art explores the more artistic side of fashion and focuses on fellow bloggers who combine style and art through illustration, painting, graphics, and other creative endeavors.

Singular Style highlights one blogger with exceptional style and provides insight into their thoughts with a fun–and sometimes revealing–Q&A.

Our goal is to recognize bloggers doing great things and create opportunities for everyone, so if you have news to share with the fashion blogging community or would like to contribute to a future issue, be sure to contact us.

Whew! There’s still a lot of work to do, but we hope to make this issue of Style Sample Magazine the best yet! More insider updates are coming soon, so be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss anything…

We Can Do Anything! But What Do We Want to Do?

Have you ever seen someone doing something fantastic or read an awesome job description and thought “I know I could do that if I just had the chance”? I know I have…many times!

One of the things I really want to do with Style Sample Magazine is to create opportunities for fashion bloggers to gain experience doing what they want to do. The idea is to give as many people as possible a chance.

The question, then, is what do you want a chance to do? Do you want to be a writer? Designer? Fashion editor? Stylist? Open a boutique? Strut around a fabulous office wearing killer heels and telling people what to do all day like a cross between Carine and Kimora? (Oh wait, that’s me. Sorry!)

So, fill me in: Respond to the poll or in the comments, and we can work together to make it happen!

Things are moving forward!

Great news! Two of my favorite bloggers have agreed to be a part of the first issue! I am so excited/crazy/stressed about this project and the possibilities it holds!

A Day in the Life

Marian of The House of Style will take us along on a day in her fabulous (and extremely well-heeled) life as a London-based stylist and personal shopper. If you’ve seen her blog, you know we’re in for a treat. If you haven’t…go check it out now!

Cover Story/Feature
Nina of Femme Rationale will dish about blogging, bleaching, and great hair (really, have you seen her hair?) with up-and-coming freelance writer Fajr of Stylish Thought. These two together should produce some really interesting insights.

I’ve got more up my sleeve, so keep checking for updates to see who else will be featured and how you and your blog can be included…

I plan to publish the first issue in April, with subsequent issues being published every other month. Feel free to leave a comment or contact me directly at magazine @ thestylesample.com if you have ideas or suggestions. If you’re interested in being part of a future issue, just fill out this form and I’ll get in touch with you.
